Join fellow pastors, staff members, and ministry leaders for two days focused on God’s presence and the practical processes that support a healthy church.
Come ready to be encouraged, review your ministry’s systems, and identify helpful next steps for the year ahead.
Imagine a church / ministry marked by the following eight characteristics
1. God-given vision
God’s Word on what we should do— insight from Heaven (the same word as “prophetic”), as opposed to just a grandiose human idea, consistently provides the "next best" ideas of WHAT to do, as well as insights as to HOW to do it.
2. Transformational leadership
Leaders serving at every level of the organization view ministry as a means to build people— not people as a way to build ministry. And, they focus on life-change, not just programs and projects.
3. Meaningful membership
The ministry develops and shares a clear on-ramp to inform people about God’s vision for the church, as well as invite them to take a next step and get involved. No one wonders how to get involved or "what to do." Everyone clearly knows their next best step.
4. Passionate spirituality
Everything overflows from an ongoing experience with God as opposed to only education about God. A vigorous and energizing pursuit of God infuses every area of life, energizing ministry and more.
5. Functional strategies
There are clear processes and ways of running the organizational side of church to facilitate ministry. Everything is easy-to-understand, making ministry more efficient and effective at the same time. "Sideways" energy is minimal.
6. Loving relationships
People in the church resolve conflict quickly and see their connection with each other as an overflow of their connection with God. They don't do drama. They do unconditional love that infuses the culture of the church.
7. Sacrificial generosity
People readily give of their time, talents, and treasures… seeing each as an investment in the future, with the goal of filling Heaven. While leaders DO need to let people know about the opportunities around them, no one is begged to participate. They give cheerfully (and freely).
8. Kingdom orientation
Everyone involved LOVES their local expression of the body of Christ, but also recognizes they play just a small part. They want the Kingdom to grow more than just their church. They readily partner with other ministries and churches, expanding everyone's impact together.
You can do it. We want to help!
Everyone agrees, "That would be great!"
Yet, these eight are the CONSEQUENCES of a healthy ministry-- not the CAUSES of them. Though this is where we want to "go," it's not where we begin. We must go back to the beginning...
When we pursue "health" instead of growth, a few things occur...
- Strengthen your ministry at a pace it can sustain.
- Release the pressure to look like another church.
- Rediscover the joy of your calling.
- See healthy fruit emerge from healthy roots.
Healthy Church focuses on the Presence. Healthy Systems equips you with practical processes. These two days bring both together.

Where Healthy Church came from
A biblical foundation. Decades of ministry experience. Practical help for your church today.
Dr. Edwin F. Jenkins has spent more than 50 years serving churches—as a youth pastor, senior pastor, senior adult pastor, transitional pastor, and leadership mentor.
He loves the church because Christ loves the church—and the people who comprise it.
In 1997, Edwin joined the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, where he launched the Office of Leadership and Church Growth. His work gave him opportunities to walk alongside pastors and congregations navigating different seasons of ministry.
A few years later, the editor of The Alabama Baptist invited Edwin to write a series of articles on church health.
Those articles became a short booklet, The Biblical Design of a Healthy Church. It went through multiple printings and opened doors for workshops, training, and conversations with church leaders across Alabama.
The question was simple: What does Scripture show us about a healthy church?
Edwin’s goal was to help leaders pursue biblical health and Kingdom impact—and allow growth to flow from that foundation.
As Edwin began gathering his core teachings to share with another generation, the conversation returned to Healthy Church.
How could decades of biblical study and ministry experience become a resource that today’s leaders could readily use?
That conversation helped give rise to LifeLift Ministries.
The vision was to combine the enduring message with books, online teaching, and practical tools that could encourage and equip more people.
Healthy Church became one of the first projects.
Andrew Edwin Jenkins brought his experience in writing, online courses, and church and ministry consulting to the project.
Together, father and son combined their experience to address two connected needs.
Churches need God’s presence—and practical processes that support ministry.
Healthy Church explores the biblical foundation. Healthy Systems helps leaders organize the work, clarify next steps, and reduce unnecessary friction so people can focus on the mission.
In 2025, Edwin and Andrew expanded and updated The Biblical Design of a Healthy Church and developed its companion, Healthy Systems for Healthy Churches.
The resources bring together biblical teaching, ministry experience, and tools for practical application.
One focuses on the Presence. The other focuses on processes.
Together, they help leaders consider both the spiritual health of their ministry and the systems that support its everyday work.
Healthy Church LIVE brings these resources into a setting where you can learn, reflect, ask questions, and connect with other ministry leaders.
During our two days together, you’ll have the opportunity to:
• Review the biblical foundations of a healthy church.
• Consider five practical systems that support your ministry.
• Identify next steps for your own church and team.

Monday | Healthy Church
Healthy Church begins with God’s presence.
A healthy church begins with a biblical foundation. On Monday, we’ll explore what Scripture reveals about the church—and how to seek God’s wisdom for the people and place He has called you to serve.
Discover the 2–4–6 biblical framework.
Explore the two foundations, four types of growth, and six functions of a healthy church. This framework gives your team a shared foundation while leaving room for God’s direction in your unique ministry context.
Lead with intention and clarity.
Consider what a New Testament church is, why intentional leadership matters, and three questions that help you discern God’s desire, design, and direction.
Recognize healthy fruit.
The eight characteristics introduced above help you recognize the results of a healthy ministry. We’ll connect those fruits to the roots that nurture them.
You’ll leave with a clearer framework for evaluating your ministry and identifying your next steps.

Tuesday | Healthy Systems
Healthy Systems helps your ministry move forward.
Healthy ministry needs practical processes that support its mission. On Tuesday, we’ll explore five systems that help you organize the work, clarify responsibilities, and reduce unnecessary stress.
Strengthen the five systems.
Path. People. Processes. Place. Purse.
These five areas provide a practical framework for reviewing how your ministry operates—and identifying where a clearer process could make a meaningful difference.
Turn insight into action.
Use worksheets, templates, and practical examples to identify next steps for your church. Build processes your team can understand, use, and sustain.
Work through common frustrations.
Conflict and the gap between your hopes and current reality can slow momentum. We’ll explore ways to approach both with clarity and a constructive next step.
Keep people and the Presence at the center.
People carry God’s presence. Processes support their work. Healthy systems create space for people to serve well and focus on the mission.
You’ll leave with practical tools to help your team work together with greater clarity and purpose.
